For lovers of children's books, there is a special place in the heart of The Hague: the Kinderboekenmuseum. It was first opened to the public in 1994 as an annex to the Museum of Literature and underwent a major renovation in 2010.

On the walls are colorful and bright decorations c'ha captured the imagination from the first moment one enters the exhibition rooms. It is the top floor of the museum that is particularly interesting for young children. Designed to be interactive, it succeeds in immersing visitors in the stories and characters that marked the childhood of so many children, especially in the Netherlands. Each area is dedicated to a specific book or author, and in it you can walk through their pages.

The museum also offers creative workshops and special events. A visit to this place full of magic is a unique experience for families and fans of children's literature.

• Opening time: Tuesday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Closing time: closed on January 1, April 27, May 5, and December 25.

• Entrance: in front of the entrance on the left is a small column with an intercom to talk to the receptionist and have the automatic door opened.

• Ticket price from 2024: free up to age 1, Euro 10,- from age 2 to 18, Euro 12,- for adults.

• Parking: parking at the private garage at Central Station/New Babylon. A spot can be reserved for museum visitors at a reduced price. The park is managed by Qpark.

• Elevator: present and wheelchair accessible.

• Service dogs: accepted.

• Exhibition rooms: most exhibition rooms are accessible using a wheelchair but many installations are not accessible.

• Nursery room: present with a dedicated nursing corner. The interior space is very narrow and difficult to access.
