In the heart of Amsterdam is one of the most interesting museums for all history buffs: the Verzetmuseum. Its exhibits tell the story of the Dutch Resistance during World War II. This crucial historical period is presented with engaging testimonies and touching exhibits. Objects, letters, and videos tell the story of the Dutch who opposed the Nazi invasion. The museum's roots go back to 1979 when an exhibition was first organized at the Tripodia Cultural Center in Katwijk. The exhibition was visited by more than 10,000 people. This success led to the creation of another exhibition, made price the Royal Palace in Amsterdam and named "Resistance and Persecution 1933-19now." By the end of the exhibition, the realization grew that it was necessary to have a permanent collection that would speak to the issues addressed. • Parking: accessible parking space in front of the museum (it is not possibile to reserve it).

• Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.

• Closed on: 01/01/24, 27/04/24, and 25/12/24.

• Entrance: two sliding glass doors that open automatically. Pay attention to the small rise before entering.

• Companion/chaperone: free entrance. 

• Toilets: toilet with with handrails; door opened manually; not very spacious.

• Accessibility: permament museum exhibition accessibile using a wheelchair. The collection is displayed on one floor. • Rental: two manual wheelchairs are available for users.

• Sensory stimulation: visiting the museum you may receive many external stimuli: the colors of the museum, the dark rooms, the lights, films with sound, small and crowded rooms, sound effects. During the week there may be school groups (usually not after 3.30 pm).
