A place to travel through different world cultures. The Wereldmuseum (from the Dutch "World Museum") is worth exploring for its interactive and educational exhibits that promote connections between different cultures. A visit to it is a soul- and mind-enriching experience. Stories and objects from Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania are masterfully presented in an engaging way. Each object presented tells a human story. Deep themes such as decoration, mourning, celebration, and prayer are touched upon in the halls.
The Wereldmuseum, formerly known as the Tropenmuseum until 2023, is housed in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful monumental buildings, dating from 1926 and designed by Johannes Jacobus van Nieukerken and Marie Adrianus van Nieukerken. The museum's roots, however, go back to 1864 when Frederick van Eeden opened founded the Colonial Museum in the city of Haarlem. The purpose was to exhibit Dutch overseas possessions and the extraordinary cultures of these countries. It was from the second half of the twentieth century that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the museum to direct its attention to more social issues, such as integration, hunger, and poverty.

- Ticket price: Euro 17.50 for ages 19 and up, Euro 9.00 for children ages 6 to 18, free for children under 5.

- Parking: There are two parking spaces for visitors with disabilities in the parking lot adjacent to the Wereldmuseum. By using the European Parking Card for Travelers with Disabilities you can use this space free of charge.

- Special audiotour: The "Our Colonial Legacy" exhibition has been made accessible to blind and visually impaired visitors.
