The National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam is really important for understanding the extraordinarily rich maritime history and culture of the Netherlands. Here, visitors come into contact with evidence that demonstrates the inescapable connection to the sea. The collection is housed in an old building from 1656 that was used as the Dutch navy arsenal. In its galleries, you can admire models of historic ships, maps, navigational instruments, and sailors' uniforms. One of the highlights of the museum is definitely the curious life-size replica of the ship "Amsterdam" belonging to the Dutch East India Company. Inside, you can immerse yourself in life aboard a ship in the 17th century.

• Opening hours: daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Closing time: December 25, January 1, and April 27.

• Ticket price: 18.50 euros for adults, 8.50 euros for children aged 13 to 17, free for children under 12.

• Entrance: entrance accessible via automatic sliding doors.

• Accessibility: the exhibition floors can be reached by elevators. To visit the ship VOC Amsterdam there is an external elevator for visitorswith wheelchairs. Unfortunately, the upper and lower decks cannot be accessed. From the door leading to the pier there is a rise of a few cm (see photo). The inner sle ports are manually operated and are heavy.

• Lockers: the locker area is located on the first basement level. There is an elevator to access it (see photo). The lockers are operated via a display, putrously they are placed at too high a height (about 150 cm).

• Audioguide: audioguide present in several languages. Languages available: Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean.

• Guide dog: accepted.

• Toilets: accessible toilets with grab bars accessible to visitors with wheelchairs, present on several floors.

• Companion: if you cannot visit the museum independently, you can bring 1 companion for free.

• Rental: it is possible to rent wheelchairs to visit the museum, or lightweight folding stools.

• Mobility scooters: for security reasons for the collection, mobility scooters are not allowed. Exceptions may be made in cases of extreme necessity and the visitor is escorted during the visit.

• Children in baby carriers: for safety reasons for the collection, the use of baby carriers is not allowed. It is possible to borrow a stroller.
